Like many San Franciscans, when I first moved to the city public transportation was my blood line. Looking to be productive with the time spent waiting for buses, I made a habit of sketching illustrative typography. On one occasion, I sketched typography so ridiculous that I basically dared myself to expand the sketch into a complete typeface. From that, Snail Skin was born. Work on the font goes in phases. Currently, I have the lower case, upper case, and numericals completed with only the special characters needed to finalize the typeface.
